The Department of Health and Family Welfare, Government of Meghalaya on March 18, 2025, notified regarding the mandatory requirement of Immunization for the issuance of Birth Certificates to facilitate Aadhaar enrolment and uninterrupted access to ICDS benefits for all newborns.
The following has been stated namely: -
• It states that the government has suspended the mandatory immunization requirement for birth certificates for two months to expedite Aadhaar enrollment and ensure uninterrupted access to ICDS benefits for newborns.
• It states that District Registrars shall issue birth certificates regardless of immunization status, which will be recorded separately, while health and ICDS officials continue vaccination awareness; the policy will be reviewed after two months for potential continuation or modification.
